Spencer Sports & Social Club is delighted to announce that they will once again be serving food.
Tracey Newbury who runs Tam, Tam’s Catering and has several years of experience in catering, approached chairman of the club, Tony Webb, about a contract for catering at the club. She said that she would like to be considered to take on the job as the club’s caterer.
Chairman Tony Webb and club secretary Ray Edwards were delighted when Tracey said she would like to start Sunday lunches again.
Tracey said, “I’m so excited to be joining the team. I will be cooking a Sunday carvery starting 7th February. There will be three meats; pork, chicken and beef, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and my famous homemade cauliflower cheese.”
To celebrate the launch of the Sunday carvery, on the 7th February, with every meal, you will get a free starter or dessert. Simply take along the original advertisement out of the Melksham News.
Tracey continued, “Everyone loves a Sunday carvery and when I spoke to Tony and Ray about it they thought it was a great idea to get their trade back on a Sunday afternoon.
“The club has such a great atmosphere and I want my cooking to reflect that. I want people to enjoy a lovely Sunday meal with family and friends in a friendly atmosphere.”
Tony said, “The first thing Tracey said to us was, ‘Why haven’t you got those kitchens open yet!’
“The food here has always been really popular and we would like to expand on that and keep the club as a place to enjoy food and drink.”
A medium carvery is £7.50 and a large is £8.50; children’s meals are £5.50 and toddler size meals are £2.75. Various starters and desserts will also be on the menu at £3.25.
Tracey continued, “We will also be open for food on Wednesday and Saturday nights from 5pm – 9pm. The menu will feature the old favourites that everybody loves like ham, egg and chips and scampi and chips.
“I’m really looking forward to it and hope everyone enjoys my selection of food.”
There will a special Valentine’s Day menu for Sunday 14th; £19.95 for three courses and includes a rose and glass of fizz. Booking is advised to avoid disappointment. Call 01225 702216.
Ray said, “We welcome all members and non members to all the clubs functions. But if you would like to become a member of the club, the annual membership fee is £5 per adult member.”
