THE first Melksham Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting of 2014 will be a ‘Travel Special’.
2014 brings a new service running on the TransWilts line from Westbury, Trowbridge and Melksham to Chippenham and Swindon, with onward connections to Bath, Bristol, Reading, London, Warminster, Salisbury and Southampton.
Graham Ellis, press and publicity, TransWilts Community Rail Partnership said, “The new train times may make a significant difference to your business – with your guests now able to use the train all the way from London to Melksham. They may make a significant difference to you as an individual – it’s now practical for you to take a full time job in Swindon if you live in Melksham or Trowbridge – even if you don’t have a car available to you.
“The meeting, starting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 21st January at Well House Manor on Spa Road in Melksham (SN12 7NY), is open to anyone, and admission is free. We’ll welcome Lee Fletcher, who is Connecting Wiltshire travel advisor team leader with Wiltshire Council. Lee was actively involved in researching travel requirements in West Wiltshire for the new train service, and it owes much to his input.
“In his current role, he advises businesses and individuals on their travel requirements and options, taking into account new possibilities across all available modes (train, bus, cycle, walk, car, mixed). He’ll tell us a bit about the TransWilts and other services, and be available to answer specific questions too. You’ll be able to take timetables and more away, and Lee or one of his team will be available to visit you as part of the Connecting Wiltshire project after the meeting to help you individually, or your company.”
