SUPPORTERS young and old are being encouraged to dress in black and yellow and turn up in the droves at Oakfields Stadium this Saturday as Melksham Town aim to make history in the FA Vase.
Through to the last 16 of the FA Vase for the very first time in its history, Town take on Tring Athletic for a place in the quarter-finals.
With only three games between the club and a place in the final at Wembley Stadium, chair Darren Perrin and manager Kieran Baggs, are hoping for a record crowd at Oakfields this weekend to help drive the team forward to an historic win.
“Can we get a crowd of 1,000? Maybe 1,500? All wearing black and yellow – it could make all the difference,” said Darren. “I would love to see the stadium full, packed to the rafters. Let’s make it a special day, not just for the club, but for the whole town. Melksham Town is all about the community, I want people to come out in force and be proud of the club that they have, and be proud of Melksham.”
In agreement, manager Kieran Baggs said, “This is going to be a massive day for the club, the supporters and the town. The team and I would love to see Oakfields packed out, the support that Melksham gives us is just unbelievable, it makes a real difference.
“I want to see people of all ages, men, women, everyone, all out in their black and yellow – people need to come out in droves. Let’s make this a day to remember!”
Town take on Tring Athletic in the fifth round of the FA Vase this Saturday, 3rd February, kick off 3pm. There is limited parking at Oakfields, so supporters are advised to walk to Oakfields or get dropped off.
