FOLLOWING a month of support from a Melksham opticians, the local campaign to support five-year-old Liam Collins has received a boost of more than £500.
Specsavers on Bank Street pledged to donate £1 from every sight test carried out throughout April, raising a total of £533 for the cause. The money will help Liam’s family create a more suitable environment for their son, for which they hope to raise £10,000.
Liam suffers from X-linked ectodermal dysplasia which makes it difficult for his body to control its temperature.
“We’re really proud to have supported Liam and his family by donating a proportion of the money from each eye test we carried out during the month,” said Julie Burrage, store manager at Specsavers Melksham. “It’s been fantastic to see the whole community get behind this campaign and I’m sure the donation will make a real difference to Liam’s wellbeing going forward.”
