A NEW life-saving defibrillator has been installed at the Melksham Hub Café, next to the train station.

The new defibrillator has purchased thanks to a grant from Community Rail Network for TransWilts – the community interest company that manages the café.
“We are pleased that we have a potentially life-saving defib fitted on the outside our café both for our customers and the community,” said Sophie Martin from TransWilts.
“It is registered with the national defibrillator network called Community Heartbeat so it can be accessed by the South West Ambulance service as well as anyone in the community who calls 999.
“When a person suffers a cardiac arrest (such as a heart attack), speed is of the essence and time delays can cost lives.”
The locations of defibrillators in the town are: Melksham Riverside Centre; Jones Supermarket, Forest Road; Water Meadow Pub, Cranesbill Road; Melksham Assembly Hall; Melksham Fire Station, Semington Road; Melksham Store, Beanacre Road; the SSE Building, Spa Road; and Queensway Chapel, Pembroke Road.
Defibrillators in rural areas can be found at: The Pilot Pub, Bowerhill; the pavilion at Bowerhill Sports Field; The New Inn, Berryfield; Shaw Village Hall; Whitley Reading Rooms; St Barnabas Church (entrance porch), Beanacre; and at Westbury Packaging on Lancaster Road, Bowerhill Industrial Estate.
