LOCAL Indie band The Sunnies, played their first ever headline show recently, rounding off a summer of performances at local festivals and community events.
The band – made up of Jarrett, Lucas, Dan and Joe, aged 14 to 17 years old – played at The Pump Trowbridge, a grassroots music venue that they sold out.
“The gig went really well,” says Jarrett one of the band members. “We were blown away by the turn out and support and we couldn’t believe that we sold out the venue even after extra tickets were released. It felt amazing seeing people singing along to our music, even unreleased songs. Our support acts Foxy Moron and Rae were fantastic. We would like to thank all of our fans for their continued support and we look forwards to what the future holds for The Sunnies.”
Earlier this year, the band came first in the Battle of the Bands competition at the Neeld Community and Arts Centre in Chippenham, where they won a slot to perform at Chippenham Pride and on the main stages at the Minety Festival where Scouting for Girls also performed and at the Nibley Festival.
They also played at Melksham’s Food and River Festival and have more local shows coming up.
“We are looking forward to playing at the Melksham Christmas Lights this year and at the Trowbridge Civic Centre next year,” says Jarrett, “We are currently working on our EP, so keep your eyes open for that and check out our Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube channel for new releases and Vlogs.”
