TWO Melksham businesses are to go head-to-head as they take on each other in a charity football match.
Travis Perkins will play Buildbase at the Conigre on Sunday 26th April in a bid to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The match was organised by Robbie Newton who is the assistant branch manager at Travis Perkins.
He said, “As well as outside of work, I also try and do a charity challenge at work. We have recently changed our nominated charity to Macmillan Cancer Support so needed something big to get the ball rolling.
“We have done matches in the past but felt it needed more spice. After discussions with everyone at the branch here in Melksham we thought of asking Buildbase if they were up for the challenge. Luckily Charlie from Buildbase responded to my email with a resounding yes.
“In the past our charity matches have raised somewhere between £500-£1,000 and if we can get hold of some good raffle prizes, we can raise a bit more
“I just hope we get a good crowd and raise lots of money! After that I am desperate for a Travis Perkins victory – I won’t be able to live it down if Buildbase beat us!
“If anyone is able to donate a raffle prize, I would be very grateful and just hope we can get as many people up as possibly to watch the match of the year. It’s all for a good cause after all.”
The game kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday 26th April with a suggested donation fee of £2.
