“Melksham Lions Club has had a successful year, with new enthusiastic members joining us, to enable us to assist those in and around Melksham who really need help.
“We continue to assist residents in temporary accommodation and recently held a Halloween party for the children there, with our good friend and entertainer, Dave Hickory, helping things along. A Christmas party is planned next and an Easter Egg hunt in the spring.
“Talking of Easter Eggs, we had a very successful Easter egg raffle with proceeds going to Wiltshire Air Ambulance and plan to have Easter Eggs out in pubs etc again in 2020, so please buy a ticket.
“This year was Melksham Lions’ 45th Charter Anniversary and we celebrated with a superb Sunday lunch at Shaw Country Hotel. Our guests on the day included Melksham Mayor, local MP and our Lions District Governor. We held a raffle in aid of Freewheelers or Blood Bikes as they are known.
“Other activities included over 55s forum, Melksham Community Expo, Carnival, Party in the Park, Town Crier Competition, Melksham 800 year Charter celebrations, the 10k run, various quiz nights, visit to a vineyard, and attending the Civic Service.
“Recently I laid a wreath on behalf of Melksham Lions at the Remembrance Service. More events are planned for next year to put the fun into fundraising, where every penny we raise goes to charity.
