MELKSHAM-based Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club (WYCC) has become one of the first clubs in England to receive a ‘Quality’ award from British Canoeing.

The club, which is based in King George V playing field, is one of the first 25 clubs in the country to be given the prestigious award.
Chairman of WYCC, Kevin Bowerbank, along with members of the club, recently accepted the award from British Canoeing’s club support officer, James Hinves.
The club said, “The British Canoeing Quality Club Award recognises the standards of operation and governance at the club. The committee and its members have all worked hard to put these in place plus to continually review and improve in the future.
“The process provided a great opportunity for us as a cub to reflect on the things we do well and recognise where improvements could be made. This provides a good foundation to guide our future growth as a club.”
