THE World Day of Prayer service was held this year at Melksham Baptist Church in Old Broughton Road.
Joy Ackland from the church said, “The local churches taking part were Melksham Baptist Church, St Michael’s, St Andrew’s, and St Barnabas (Anglican), St Anthony’s (Roman Catholic) and the United Church. People from other local churches also attended the service.
“The order of service was prepared by the Christian Women of Taiwan. Entitled, ‘I have heard about your faith’, it illustrated how the faith of local women enabled them to overcome abuse, prejudice and oppression and become good role models for others.
“Refreshments were served including Taiwanese honey Castella sponge cake. The room was decorated with paper dragons as the dragon is a symbol of power, strength and good luck in Taiwan.
“The 2024 service will be held at St Barnabas Church, Beanacre on Friday 1st March.”
