LOCAL man, Mark Watts, is taking part in the London 100 mile cycling event in August in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
The event is the largest festival of cycling in the world, with more than 100,000 participants expected to cycle more than three million miles in six different events over the weekend of 3rd-4th August 2019.
Organisers say, “Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts from 05:45 in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it’s a truly spectacular event for all involved.”
Mark said, “I’m delighted to confirm that I will be part of the Prostate Cancer UK team in the 6th Ride London 100 mile cycling event.
“Training is going well at present and I am looking forward to putting some more hard miles in for a great cause. I live and work locally in the Melksham area and I am currently seeking sponsorship on behalf of Prostate cancer to raise funds and awareness of this disease.
“This is a charity I feel passionate about and would like to raise as much as I can as this is dear to my heart and has affected and is still affecting millions of people.
“Throughout the uk one man is dying every 45 minutes from this disease.
