MELKSHAM pharmacy, D&M Gompels, has won the UK’s Pharmacy Business of the Year award at this year’s Pharmacy Business Awards.
The awards ceremony was hosted on Wednesday 4th October at the Crown Park Plaza in Westminster and brought together pharmacy industry leaders and influencers from all over the country to celebrate excellence in the field.
“This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to patient care and our innovative approach to pharmacy services,” says owner, Patrick Gompels.
“We are deeply honoured to have received the award which wouldn’t have been possible without our exceptional team members who tirelessly support our patients.”
The awards celebrate the very best of the pharmacy profession and recognise outstanding community pharmacists who are at the very cutting edge of the profession.
“D&M Gompels, with its rich history and dedication to healthcare, emerged as the standout choice among the impressive nominees,” said the award judges.
“D&M Gompels Pharmacy is renowned for its patient-centric philosophy and continuous embrace of cutting-edge technology. Their active collaboration with local medical practices, including Spa Medical Centre, where they conduct hundreds of Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) consultations monthly, demonstrates their profound commitment to the community’s health and wellbeing.
“Their comprehensive array of services, such as a travel clinic and earwax microsuction, ensures they cater to diverse patient needs. In addition to these services, D&M Gompels Pharmacy operates two specialized off-site pharmacies, focusing on renal dialysis products and sip feeds.”
Patrick said the key factors contributing to the pharmacy’s success were exceptional customer service, comprehensive private services, continuous software development for improved health outcomes, a fostering of robust professional relationships and maintaining a forward-looking approach, and these have been the cornerstones of its achievements.
Over 800 guests gathered at the awards ceremony, including Patrick and his team from their two Melksham pharmacies and a member of Spa Medical Centre, with whom D&M Gompels has forged a positive working relationship.

D&M Gompels was started in 1967 in Melksham and has two pharmacies in the town at 1a Bank Street and at the Spa Medical Practice in Snowberry Lane.
