A LOCAL teenager is preparing to Brave the Shave and raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care in memory of his mum, who died from breast cancer.
Reece Hulland, 15, along with five friends and help from his sister Elsie, will have their heads shaved on Saturday 25th May, in memory of Jennifer Hulland, who died on Saturday 4th May, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2022.
Jennifer was born and grew up in Seend and was a student at George Ward School and worked in the Hair Consortium in Melksham for a few years.
Reece and his friends have so far raised over £7,000 for Dorothy House Hospice Care, which offers palliative and end-of-life care to local people.
The fundraising target was £500 but Reece, his sister and friends say they are ‘blown away’ to have reached over £7,000 for the charity that supported them and their mum.
“Her last few days were spent at Dorothy House Hospice, where they gave us the chance to all say our goodbyes,” explained Reece, who goes to school in Devizes, where the family now live.
“The work Dorothy House did and the way they helped and treated my mum were amazing. They are truly amazing people that do amazing work that is based all on charity donations.”
