HOME decor and gift shop, Ma Maison, is celebrating the arrival of a new line of ceramics, handcrafted by an artist from Bath.
The shop in the Littlebrook Centre sells soft furnishings such as throws, blankets and cushions, as well as home decor and gifts – all sourced from environmentally friendly suppliers.
Now on offer is a range of ceramic tableware and decorative pieces made by artist Trevor Lillistone. Owner Philip Shone said, “I stock a variety of unique items at Ma Maison and I am always looking for the next good quality, unique product. When I saw the ceramics of Trevor Lillistone I knew that I wanted to carry his line. With Trevor being a local artist from Bath and Ma Maison being an independent local shop, it is important to support each other.
“Melksham has potential to be a town that is visited for its variety of independent shopping and I hope that it continues to grow to attract more visitors. Ma Maison will have the mugs, jugs and bowls from Bath potter Trevor Lillistone over the Christmas time.”
About his range of ceramic ware Trevor said, “I have been a full time ceramicist since 2013, making finely thrown stoneware and porcelain from my studio in Bath. My work is in a contemporary style, comprising both small batch domestic tableware and decorative pieces of tall vases and large bowls. I have a particular interest in using contrasting glazes and textures, and work predominantly in a natural palette of blues, greens and browns. My ceramics are all made individually, hand thrown on the wheel and fired in an electric kiln.
“I am a full member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, and a member of the South Wales Potters Association.”
Ma Maison is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm. Find them on Facebook and p 1.
