Kerry said, “I was a teaching assistant for 10 years but now my children are older and my husband works away in the week, I found myself home alone a lot of the time. I wanted a career change and to work for myself, so I decided to train in foot care. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do! I find it very therapeutic and I love that I’m helping people. One gentleman who I recently visited was so happy when I’d finished, he had been in so much pain, but afterwards he said it was like walking on air.
“For me hygiene is hugely important. I will never use the same equipment twice. Everything is kept in sterile pouches and opened in front of the clients. My rule is, one person, one set of equipment. I work on a highly professional basis. I’ve been really busy already and my diary is booking up fast! I’m flexible and adapt with the clients needs. I visit their homes for their comfort and for some who are less fortunate with mobility, this is ideal. I’ve had a massive amount of support from my family and friends, it’s been great.”
