Do you remember seeing a cube-shaped silver-coloured trailer emblazoned with Calne Silver Band on the side anywhere near the former Christie Miller site at Bowerhill?
The trailer was stored in the disused Christie Miller Sports Centre and contained a complete percussion kit – drums, cymbals, glockenspiel, etc but has been lost and the band are trying to track it down.
“When Wiltshire Council decided to demolish the Christie Miller building, Calne Silver Band planned to remove the trailer, but then came the Covid lockdown,” said Brian Heath on behalf of the band.
“We believe the trailer was still within the Christie Miller compound when the lockdowns ended; but what became of it after that remains a mystery.
“I have been in touch with Wiltshire Council at the highest level and have been assured that the most diligent enquiries have been made, but that no record can be found of the whereabouts of the trailer.
“So, I would like to ask your readers to cast their minds back to the period just towards the end of the first Covid lockdown three years ago, and the time that has passed since then: did you see a silver-coloured trailer with “Calne Silver Band” all over it, being towed or otherwise transported in the Melksham area?
“Did you see it standing within the Christie Miller Compound at the time? Even better, have you seen it more recently, either stored somewhere, or parked somewhere where it looks a bit out of place, or in the worst-case scenario, just dumped and abandoned anywhere, whether still locked with the percussion kit still inside, or broken up?
“Any information at all would be very helpful to the band in recovering either their lost property or proper compensation for its loss.”
