AGEUK Wiltshire has started ‘Fitness and Friendship’ classes for over 65s, with a Melksham class starting this September.
Dee Phesse, of AgeUK, will be taking the ‘Fitness and Friendship’ class starting on Thursday 13th September and continuing every other Thursday at Bowerhill Village Hall. For just £4 per session Dee and her assistant David Hummerston will talk you through gentle exercise that will help with strength, flexibility and mobility.
The class can either be taken seated or standing and will involve gentle cardiovascular activities, as well as games such as bowling and skittles. There will also be elements of Tai-chi to keep you moving. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to chat alongside a cup of tea.
“This is one of a growing number of clubs across Wiltshire for older people. We hope to have 13 in place by September,” said Sally Evans, senior project worker for the service. “The clubs provide a social outlet with an emphasis on keeping active and are proving very popular with the older generation.”
If you are interested in joining the group, or would like more information you can pick up leaflets from your local doctors surgery or contact Dee directly on 07790 144704.
