THE Melksham Makers’ Market returns to the Market Place this Saturday 25th June, and it looks to be the biggest one yet!
Since starting the Melksham Makers’ Market four years ago, organisers Sarah Hillman and Nicola Coleman say they are over the moon with how well it’s grown.
Sarah says, “We always knew there were lots of talented people in Melksham and the surrounding areas but we never imagined we would have so many makers wanting to join us for our markets each month. Word certainly travels fast!”
The Melksham Makers’ Market welcomes over 20 marvellous makers each month; some with their own gazebos and some borrowing ones from Melksham Town Council. One such maker is Melksham based artist Naomi Joy.
Naomi is a freelance artist who has recently moved to Melksham and loves to paint animals, especially British wildlife.
Naomi says, “I recently moved to Melksham for a fresh start and I’m absolutely loving living here! Everyone is incredibly friendly and I was even more stoked to see there was a local makers market.
“As a small creative business, local events like this which are accessible and community-led are so important. This was my first Melksham Makers’ Market and I met other wonderful creatives (got myself some treats!), I met local people who I had often seen but now know by name and I feel included in what’s going on in this area – as well as gaining some much-needed funds to support my future creative endeavours. I look forward to being at the next one and seeing more lovely, friendly faces and making more friends.”
The next Melksham Makers’ Market is this Saturday 25th June from 9am to 2pm in the Market Place. For more info, please contact: themelkshammakersmarket@yahoo.com
