A MELKSHAM martial arts club raised over £550 for Children in Need by completing a five-hour non-stop training session recently.
Nine members from Elite Martial Arts put their skills to the test in a day of non-stop drills and sparring to raise money for Children in Need in November.
Their sponsorship money has all been collected and amounts to £556, which will all be donated to the charity.
Elite Martial Arts owner and trainer, Mike Cruse said, “The day went really well and we raised much more money than I expected – a big thank you to all my students who must have fleeced their family and friends!
“It was hard work but I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We did circuits with a combination of free sparring, set sparring and training drills throughout the day. I don’t think we’re ready for another one yet, but I’d definitely like to do it again in the future. Thanks also to Forest and Sandridge School which let us use the hall free of charge.”
The students who took part ranged in age from eight to their mid-40s, and all received a medal for taking part.
Elite Martial Arts holds regular training sessions for people of all ages and abilities at Forest & Sandridge School. Free taster sessions are available.
