THERE’S still time to sponsor local woman, Mary-Ann Pickett, ahead of her marathon walk this weekend.
This Saturday 18th September, Mary-Ann will take part in the annual RUH Forever Friends Walk of Life, walking 26.2 miles along the Kennet and Avon Canal in memory of her brother-in-law.
“Anyone who has needed the RUH for themselves, a family member or friend will be aware of the Forever Friends Appeal which is the official NHS charity of the Royal United Bath NHS Foundation Trust,” said Mary-Ann.
“A variety of projects has been funded over the years and any donation is a help towards funding for specific research, extra equipment or just providing little touches making a real difference to patients, their families and any visitors to the hospital.
“I took part in 2019 in memory of my sister and this year I’m walking in memory of my brother-in-law. My reason for taking part is to give something back to the RUH which is the hospital which most families in Melksham have needed at some point.
“I will do the marathon distance, with funds going towards the cardiology department and supporting staff affected by Covid-19.”
