MELKSHAM’s 2385 Squadron Air Training Corps is on a recruitment drive for more volunteers. The squadron is also looking for an individual or small team of people who have the equipment, skills and would be interested in restoring theirChipmunk cockpit section.
The squadron reports, “The Chipmunk can be viewed prior to reply if required, as it is stationed outside the front of our Squadron HQ as our “Gate Guardian”. The aim being to make the Chipmunk, fully weather tight, repair any minor damage and seat it protectively on a base.
“All repair costs would be covered by the squadron. Please contact the commanding officer at oc.2385@aircadets.org if you are interested.
Volunteers needed
“Adult volunteer staff at the backbone of the RAF Air Cadets. They get involved in a wide range of activities, including being on the squadron civilian committee, teaching cadets, running projects, facilitating adventure training and taking cadets flying.”
The current roles are voluntary, uniformed roles which have a volunteer allowance paid at rank (T&Cs apply). All training is provided and DBS is paid for by RAF Air Cadets as part of the joining process. All recruits must be over 20 years of age, with no maximum age.
Current vacancies are for supply officer (two vacancies), an information technology (IT) officer, transport officer, ground instructors (three vacancies), and civilian committee members (six vacancies).
