Somerset Care’s Wiltshire Community Services team is delighted to announce the results of their recent Care Quality Commission inspection.
The team, based in Melksham, is delighted to be rated as ‘Good’ by the social care inspectorate who published the report on 2nd February. The report rates the Wiltshire care provider as ‘Good’ in the following areas; is the service safe, is the service effective, is the service caring and is the service responsive?
Somerset Care’s Wiltshire team cover the West and North Wiltshire areas, working with Wiltshire Council as part of the ‘Help to Live at Home’ service. The CQC report is a credit to the scheme which promotes choice, independence and enables people to stay in their home for longer.
Whilst carrying out their inspections, CQC spoke with a number of Somerset Care’s customers, who were happy to share their thoughts on the service, an extract reads:
“People told us they felt safe and comfortable with the staff that supported them. Comments from people included ‘When the carers leave they always make sure that the back door is locked and they lock the front door’, ‘We feel safe, all the carers are really, really lovely. They are friendly, you can trust them’, ‘Yes, I feel safe. All is well; they are very helpful when moving me’ and ‘I don’t feel uncomfortable with the carers, I feel safe when they come in’.”
Somerset Care’s staff also spoke highly of the service provided by their colleagues in the report:
“Staff spoke equally positively about the care they delivered. Comments included ‘We have good carers that enable people to stay in their own homes’ and ‘We provide a good quality of care’. The registered manager told us ‘We are a person centred service, everyone is an individual, and we look at what will work for them’.”
Business manager Jenny Futcher said, “I would like to say a huge thank you to all the workers on the ground delivering the wonderful service that we have, and looking after the customers with such dedication. I would also like to say a very big thank you to my office team, who have all really supported me and worked hard to achieve this report.”
Somerset Care is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare providers in Southern England. The company provides over 29,000 hours of community care every week of the year to people in their own homes, and through their residential care services they operate 30 care homes which provide residential and nursing care for over 1,550 residents.
