A WOMAN from Melksham, along with 18 of her work colleagues, will be taking part in Tough Mudder on Saturday 19th August to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Sara Robinson who works at LF Beauty in Trowbridge, will take on one of the hardest assault course events in the UK, Tough Mudder. Spread across a 12-mile course, runners face 20 hardcore obstacles which test mental strength as well as physical.
Sara said, “It’s been something that a group of us have wanted to do for so long and so when my colleague Dan received an email saying that it was coming to the South West, we thought we should definitely go for it.
“A couple of people from the team have tackled the course before and know the challenges that we are about to face. However, most of the people in our team haven’t competed in Tough Mudder so it will be a new challenge that we are facing together. I have previously ran a couple of 10k races for charity, so I’m really excited to step it up a gear and take on a whole new challenge.
“Most of us in our team train consistently and are regular gym-goers, so for us it has been a case that we have just made training a lot more intense, incorporating a lot of body weight workouts into our everyday gym sessions. Some of the team don’t train as often, however as a team we will ensure we tackle everything together and others will step up and assist where needed.
“Cancer Research UK is a great charity that means so much to many. We are keen to help raise funds as they are the world’s leading charity that are dedicated to beating cancer through research. To help contribute to that will be an amazing feeling. We are aiming to raise £2,000, so any donations are greatly appreciated.
“I’m really looking forward to it! I have wanted to do this for so long, but I hadn’t come across a group of people who were willing to endure it alongside me.”
