ORGANISERS of Melksham Community Meals celebrates one month of the club after the previous ‘Melksham Lunch Club’ service was axed by Wiltshire Council.
Organiser Sue Mortimer said, “It is going really well. We have been getting more people than the minimum we need, easily passing it each time. It’s important to let everyone know that it isn’t just the vulnerable that we cater for, everyone is welcome to come along and have something to eat.
“It doesn’t just help the customers either, it gives us volunteers a sense of release too. It gives us a break from our own personal issues to come and help those in need.”
During the lunch period on Friday 22nd February, Sue Mortimer and volunteer Ursula Purnell served up lunch for their own family, with the children being served by both of their grandmothers.
The food was cooked by chefs Elvy Schofield and Sue Hutchinson, who are the original staff from the lunch club and served also by volunteers Paul Carter and Shantell McKnight.
