A local DJ with more than three decades of experience has won a regional award recognising his work entertaining audiences at parties and weddings.
Maurice Menghini, also known as DJ Mister M, has been DJing in and around Melksham for more than 30 years. He was recently named Mobile DJ of the Year for the South West by the Prestige Awards.
The award recognises small and medium-sized businesses that demonstrate excellence, innovation and customer service.
Maurice said, “I’m over the moon about winning the award and believe it’s due to the personal service I offer when deejaying at private parties and weddings, as well as my professional sound and light show.
“I take time to curate a suitable individual music playlist for each party and I’m available to answer queries about timings, music and playlists. I’ve been deejaying for 30+ years, so I also know the music from each decade.”
The independent judging panel assesses nominees based on service excellence, customer reviews, quality, innovation, value, ethical business practices, and overall performance, with one winner is selected per category in each region
Maurice hosts music nights spanning the decades from 1970s disco through to 1990s music and recently held an 80s music night at King George V Park.
He also hosts a monthly R&B night at Melksham Tavern, with the next event taking place on Friday 31st July, and is co-hosting a Motown and Soul Night at Spencer’s Sports and Social Club on 12th September.
“I’m known as the party starter, so I like to get each party jumping,” he said.
