A NINE year-old and his father have both shaved off their hair to raise money for cancer research.
Samuel Doddington who attends Forest and Sandridge School managed to talk his dad into joining him in a charity head shave at G.Hatto barber shop after a family member died of cancer last year.
Samuel said. “My Bampa (grandfather) died last year of cancer and I miss him so much every day. Since then, I have been pestering my mum to arrange for me to have my hair shaved to raise money and help find a cure for cancer. We all know someone who has, or is suffering with this horrible disease and I don’t want people to feel as sad as I did when my grandfather died. Even if I only raised £20 it would be worth it as anything I can do towards helping beat cancer would be great.”
Samuel’s father, Dave Doddington said, “It’s great that Samuel wanted to help out so much; I am only happy to support him and help raise money for a great cause.”
Dave and Samuel were cheered on by family and friends including Samuel’s mum Pam Doddington who was full of support for what her son and husband had done. She said, “Samuel was so determined to do this to help raise money that I couldn’t stand in his way. The support from friends has been amazing and everybody thinks they are both very brave.”
So far around £300 has been raised for cancer research from the charity head shave. To sponsor Samuel and Dave for their head shave visit www.just giving.com/SamuelDodd ington where you can donate.
