A MELKSHAM diving company has won a lucrative contract to provide the Armed Forces with diving equipment.
The Divezone, based at Avonside Business Park will now supply equipment following an agreement on a £150,000 contract with the Ministry of Defence.
The equipment provided will be used for adventure training by the RAF, Navy and the Army. The training is used for fitness purposes, as well as specialised military training.
Colin Eadie, joint managing director of Divezone said, “It’s fantastic news for us. We are the first independent company to earn this contract as usually it goes to larger companies.
“It’s an honour to help the armed forces and we hope to provide the best service and high quality equipment.
“The contract is for an interim period but there is a massive contract on offer for early next year. I hope if we provide a good job for them now, then hopefully we will be considered for that.
“This £150,000 contract was made possible by one of our members, Mike Tierney. He works for Corsham-based business consultancy Prospective Services and is a diver with us and saw the MOD contract on offer and organised our application.
“The contract means a lot as it means we might be able to expand the workforce and of course the money means we are more stable.”
