Passionate golfers from Melksham have raised over £500 for Dorothy House Hospice Care, surpassing the group’s initial fundraising target.
The Melksham Grinders Golf Association held a tournament at the prestigious Nicklaus and Kernow courses at St Mellion Estate in Cornwall recently, where they played against golfers from across the region.
The aim was to raise funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care, which recently launched the ‘Together in Adversity’ campaign, highlighting the charity’s critical financial shortfall and its urgent need for support.
“As a team, we come together not just for the love of golf but to make a difference in our community,” said James Dix, spokesperson for the club. “Whether it’s through charity tournaments, fundraising challenges, or simply spreading awareness, we believe in using our passion for golf to help those in need.
“We’re absolutely delighted with the outcome. Surpassing our fundraising goal is a testament to the incredible support from our community and the dedication of our members. The atmosphere on the day was electric, and it’s heartening to see our collective efforts making a tangible difference.”
Dorothy House Hospice Care offers compassionate end-of-life care and support to patients and families across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire. The funds raised will contribute directly to the hospice’s ongoing mission to provide essential services to those in need.
Although the initial target has been met, the Melksham Grinders encourage continued donations, emphasising that every contribution, regardless of size, plays a vital role in supporting the hospice’s work.
James added, “Every donation, big or small, goes towards an important cause, and we truly appreciate your support. Thank you for being a part of our journey and helping us make a meaningful impact.”
