TOPS Hair Salon and Beauty was awarded first place in Melksham’s Best Shop competition which was voted for by local shoppers.
The award was presented by Michelle Donelan MP who set up the competition to encourage people to recognise the array of local businesses the town has to offer and to support them.
The MP said, “The idea for the competition reflects elements of my campaign. I want to rejuvenate the high street and encourage people to shop locally instead of travelling out of the town. We all need to support the local businesses, so the competition allowed the public to show their support and appreciation.
“We had an overwhelming response from people who voted, but Tops Hair Salon and Beauty was the clear favourite.”
Owner Sandra Stevens said, “We’re very grateful to win the award and thank our customers for their support. Also, thank you to Michelle for coming down to meet us and to present the award.”
Sandra’s two daughters also work at the salon. Alexandra who joined the team in October, is the office manager and Victoria who has worked at the salon for 10 years, is the salon manager and art director.
Victoria said, “We are really pleased and would like to thank our customers, family and friends for voting and for their continued support.”
Tops Hair Salon & Beauty has been established since 1978 and has built up a reputation for professional service and affordable prices, a reputation which they pride themselves on today.
All of the staff are kept up to date with the latest hairdressing techniques and with regular training, something that office manager Alexandra is proud of. “We have a fantastic team here,” she said. “They all work so hard so they all deserve the award. We are really happy that we won.”
