An ambitious project to get all 12 schools within the Melksham community area accredited with ‘Healthy Schools’ status began last week.
A joint training workshop took place at Forest and Sandridge C of E School on Thursday 15th September, with 11 of the 12 local schools represented.
Teachers learnt about the audit process, shared best practices and discussed projects that would encourage healthier lifestyles for children at their schools.
The project has been driven by the Melksham Area Board, who have liaised with local Head Teachers on the best approach to tackle the high levels of local childhood obesity.
The Area Board has provided support funding to enable schools to work collaboratively on this exciting and unique project. The aim is to have all 12 schools gain healthy schools status by October 2017.
