This month’s Melksham and District Historical display in the town hall focuses on ‘Then and Now’, featuring a selection of archive photos compared with recent images by local photographer Linda De Santiz.
Seven areas of Melksham are included, with each section showing photos alongside a brief history.
Chair of the Melksham and District Historical Association, Paul Carter, said,
“Some areas, such as Canon Square, have barely changed in over 100 years, whereas Avon Place of only 60 years ago drew people into the town for a different reason.
“Chimneys have got shorter or even disappeared, whilst the heart of the Avon factory hasn’t changed in 250 years.”
Further images and information can be found in the publication Around Melksham in Old Photographs, available from Melksham Tourist Information.
Next month’s exhibition will focus on the theme of Remembrance.
