RESULTS have been announced for this year’s Melksham in Bloom Competition.
Competition administrator Lorraine McRandle said, “The competition went really well, especially considering it was such a hot day. There were some really lovely gardens on show and the judges were impressed as always.
“The competition is very popular and entries are always of a high standard; there were quite a few new entrants this year, too, which we were very pleased to see.
“There were just over 40 entries in the competition this year; there are some amazing gardens in Melksham and we’d like to thank the judges for doing a very difficult job!
“Thanks also go to Leekes and Whitehall Garden Centre for sponsoring the event again this year.”
The winners of Melksham in Bloom 2015 are: Large Front Garden, Bruce Petty. Small Front Garden, Peter Renshaw. Large Rear Garden, Mrs Mary Saunders. Small Rear Garden, Mrs Janet Carr. Best single tub/container (Domestic), Bruce Petty. Best single hanging basket (Domestic), Mr Keith Jefferies. Best Courtyard Area, Ms N Green. Best Water Feature, Mr & Mrs Sandford.
Best decorated site, The Old Stable Market. Best single hanging basket /planter/trough (Independent Trader), The Old Stable Market. Best Window Display, Clarkies Hairdressers. Best Hanging Basket (Hotel/Restaurant/Pub/Cafe), The Golden Fleece.
Best Horticultural Display (School), Shaw School. Best Wildlife Friendly Garden (School), Aloeric School.
Best Decorated Site (Residential Housing for over 60s), Crown House. Best Hanging Basket/Trough/Planter (Residential Housing for over 60s), Crown House.
Best Street, Woodcombe. Best Allotment, Mrs S Wright. Best Overall Garden, Bruce Petty.
The winners and runners up will be presented with their cups, prizes and certificates at the Gardeners’ Society Show on Sunday 13th September at the Assembly Hall.
