A man from Melksham has been charged with drug driving offences following a fatal collision in the town centre in September.
Cheryl Decarteret, 79, died after being struck by a van that was reversing outside Savers on Lowbourne on 27th September. Her friend, Margaret Shaw, sustained life-threatening injuries.
Harry Parsons, 25, of Roundpond, Melksham, has been charged with two counts of drug driving in connection with the incident.
He appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 19th May.
The case was adjourned until 7th August and Parsons was released on unconditional bail.
Cheryl, a much-loved resident, was born in Bradford-on-Avon and lived in Holt before moving to Melksham. At the age of 18, she began working at Avon Rubber alongside Margaret.
She was described by her family as a “truly special and unique lady.”
