A 41-year-old man from Melksham has been jailed after failing to stop his car for police officers and leading them on a pursuit on the A350 Western Way.
The police report, “Salisbury Magistrates Court heard how on the evening of 16th January 2022, Terrance Adams from Byron Close, was spotted driving on the A350 at the West Ashton Crossroads, heading towards Melksham.
“An officer, attached to Wiltshire Police’s Special Operations Roads Policing Unit, followed Adams who drove his Ford Focus ST erratically at speeds ranging from 40mph to 75mph.
“The pursuit ended when the Ford was slowed by a stinger device and boxed in by two police cars.
“The court heard how Adams had also previously failed to stop for police, leading to a pursuit through Westbury on New Year’s Day where he made off on foot and evaded officers.
“Appearing before Salisbury Magistrates on Friday (04/02), Adams pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen, committing a further offence during the operational term of his suspended sentence, driving without due care and attention, drink driving, driving while disqualified, without insurance, and failing to stop.
“He was sentenced to 40 weeks imprisonment and banned from driving for three years. He was also ordered to pay a £128 surcharge for victim services and £85 CPS costs.”
