FOR the second year running, Melksham News is officially Wiltshire’s biggest circulating newspaper!
Our 13,950 circulation still outstrips all the other newspapers in the county and is now more than double the sales of the Wiltshire Times.
Annual sales figures for local newspapers were released last month for 2018, showing a continued fall for the sales of Wiltshire Times, Gazette and Herald, Swindon Advertiser and Salisbury Journal.
The Wiltshire Times’ latest sales figures saw their sales drop to just 6,179 across the whole of the county (down 13% year on year). A link to their official sales is can be found at www.abc.org.uk/product/6380
But Melksham News continues to hold strong, bucking the national trend.
Editor Ian Drew said, “The Melksham News is going from strength to strength. Our aim is simple – to pack the paper full of everything that goes on locally and this is something that has been embraced by the town.
“Newspapers owned by the large newspaper groups – like the Wiltshire Times – are really struggling. But there is still a real thirst for local news and that’s what we concentrate on – news about Melksham people, Melksham events and Melksham organisations.
“Our aim is to champion Melksham and the great people who live here. We get fantastic support from the community and hopefully that is something that will continue long into the future.”
