Melksham Walking Football Club’s Men’s Over-50s team are celebrating after clinching victory in the inaugural Wiltshire County Cup and FA Cup combined competition.
Facing strong opposition from across the county, including teams from Swindon, Salisbury and Trowbridge, Melksham battled their way through the tournament to reach a nail-biting final. The championship match ended in a tense penalty shootout, with Melksham holding their nerve to emerge victorious.
This marks the second consecutive year that Melksham have been crowned Wiltshire champions, earning them a place in the regional rounds of the competition. They’ll now go on to represent the county in Newton Abbot next month.
Melksham Walking Football Club is a non-profit community organisation and is always looking for sponsorship and funding opportunities to support its teams and players. Anyone interested in offering assistance is encouraged to contact: melkshamwf@gmail.com.
