A pet food bank in Melksham has been tirelessly supporting pets and their owners in Melksham and the surrounding villages.
Residents do not need a referral or to be receiving benefits to access support from the pet food bank. “We help everyone, even if you are working,” explained organiser Wendy Isaacs, pictured.
The pet food bank, launched in 2022, has been operating via Facebook. Earlier this year, the group put out a plea to find a permanent premises in the town.
“There is no need to struggle feeding your pets; we are here to help,” says Wendy. “Many people just aren’t aware of us and are struggling unnecessarily. We also want to make it clear that although we don’t deliver, we may still be able to help in some circumstances.”
Residents can make donations of pet food and items to designated drop-off points around the town, which are then given out to pet owners in need.
Drop-off points for the pet food bank are at The Factory Shop; Chalkland Vets, on Church Street; Pets Corner, by Asda; Natural Treats Wiltshire, by Leekes; The Beeches Vets (Semington Road); Foresters Arms (Sandridge Road); 172 Primrose Drive; and 18 Winston Road in Berryfield.
