We continue to look into reports of anti-social behaviour in Church Walk and police enforcement will be taking place in the coming weeks to target those responsible.
We undertook two visits to retail premises in Melksham, in response to concerns around immigration offences and modern-day slavery. One subject was working against his immigration status. The Immigration Department (Border Force) were spoken with.
They did not want the individual arrested at the time but the shop was closed down. Border force will now deal with the individual.
We are aware of a dog attack, which killed a cat in Melksham. We are appealing for information into identifying the owner of the dog. This happened in Melksham and details were published on a social media forum. We are trying to identify the owner/breed of the dog. The local authority dog warden is aware and looking into this matter. We urge members of the public to keep their dogs under control at all times and if volatile to use a muzzle.
Speed Enforcement caught 11 vehicles speeding on 22nd August near Newleaze in Steeple Ashton.
This stretch of road has a very clearly displayed speed limit of 30mph. The fastest vehicle was captured travelling at 48mph, just minutes before a child of around 10 years – whom I assume the vehicle had recently overtaken – cycled down the same stretch of road.
This vehicle was one of four travelling at, or in excess of, 40mph, and sharing road space with at least five other (adult) cyclists. On the day in question, it was sunny and bright and the roads were dry.
10 drivers will be offered a speed awareness course. One driver will receive a Fixed Penalty Notice and three points.
Proceedings will now be undertaken to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the offenders takes place.
