It is that time of year again for Melksham Rocks, a challenge where children are encouraged to find the winning rock among the painted rocks hidden around the town.
Throughout the summer holidays, painted rocks will be hidden around the town, with a ‘winner’ rock hidden weekly. When found, the winning rock can be taken to the Factory Shop in the Market Place to be exchanged for chocolate. Cryptic clues as to the whereabouts of the winning rock will be posted on the Melksham Rocks Facebook page.
“All other rocks are just for fun,” says organiser Wendy Isaacs. “On the back, the rocks have information to say, ‘post a photo on Melksham Rocks,’ then keep it or hide it again. We want as many photos as possible on the group page; it adds to the fun when the children see their rocks on the Facebook page.
“The game is free and we encourage others to get their children painting rocks, hunting and hiding them as well.”
