MELKSHAM Rotary president Terry Bazeley recently presented a cheque for £750 to the Amber Foundation at Bythesea Lodge in Trowbridge.
Terry was accompanied by Steve Brackenbury of the club’s community committee who organised a Big Breakfast at the Art House Café. Waitrose played a major part in ensuring its success by providing most of the food and other help, another instance of their willingness to aid fundraising, with Sam Parsons joining the presentation party.
The centre in Trowbridge accommodates up to 30 young people for three to six months to enable them to recover from very difficult circumstances at a very young age, with guidance from 10 permanent adult leaders, and time to look for work.
The group were shown around by two of the young people, Tim and Darren, and all of them remarked on the homely and welcoming atmosphere, giving confidence to the young people who respond well to the opportunity that Amber gives them to turn their lives around.
They were also very impressed at the way they are offered a very structured day, bringing some routine and security to their daily lives.
