MELKSHAM Rugby Club is hosting a special day to officially open the club’s new facilities at Oakfield Stadium next Saturday, 7th October.
The rugby club moved into their new ground in January this year, but have waited until the new season began before celebrating the big move.
Treasurer for the club, Richard Jones said, “Melksham Rugby Club extends its warm welcome to Melksham residents to come and see our fantastic facility, to be officially opened by a special guest at 1.30pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Prior to this, spectators will be entertained by our mini section and the ladies’ and girls’ teams, showing their skills during training and practice drill sessions from 12pm on pitch number one, which is overlooked by our welcoming social bar area upstairs in the rugby club.
“Two senior matches will be played during the afternoon, with kick-off at 3pm for Melksham 1st (sponsored by Carols Cabs and RB Poolman) against Bradford on Avon; and Melksham 2nds (sponsored by Rich Hemmings and RB Poolman) against Cricklade.
“Our mini section parents will be hosting our celebrated cake stall, and hot food will be available to purchase from our pitch-side servery and upstairs in our kitchen.
“Bar facilities will be open during the event and we will be selling local beers from Box Steam Brewery and K&A Brewery.”
