MELKSHAM showed its support for the Black Lives Matter movement with a peaceful demonstration of approximately 120 people this afternoon in the Market Place.

The event was organised by 15-year-old Botan Williams who says, “As a person of colour I feel extremely passionate about the Black Lives Matter movement and justice getting served for not only George Floyd but every black person that has lost their life due to racial police brutality.
“To show our community’s support for the movement I organised today’s peaceful protest so we can not only raise awareness for the issue but take small steps towards dismantling all forms of racism. Because of Covid, social distancing was in place and everybody was advised to wear masks and gloves.”
