Melksham teen to hold fundraising night for Borneo adventure

A teenager from Melksham is fundraising for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend four weeks helping conservation and community projects in Borneo.

Ruben Hilbert, 15, who attends Melksham Oak School, has been selected to take part in a Camps International trip to Borneo after his GCSE exams.

To help raise money for the trip, Ruben is holding a quiz and entertainment night at Melksham Cons Club on Saturday 3rd October, with a raffle, auction and other activities planned.

Ruben said, “I want to experience a completely different culture and help people less fortunate. I am looking forward to experiencing the country, helping with conservation projects and spending four weeks away from home.

“I am excited to be able to carry out conservation work in the heart of a rural community, far away from home. This will be an exciting experience once my GCSE exams have finished.”

Doors open for the fundraising night on 3rd October at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The evening will include a quiz, raffle, auction and other activities, with tables available through the Cons Club.

Ruben and his family are also appealing to local businesses for raffle prizes to support the fundraising effort.

Ruben added, “I’m grateful to anyone who can add some donations to my fundraising as it’s for such a vital cause. The raffle prizes any local businesses can donate will be very welcomed!”

Further fundraising activities, including car boot sales and toy sales, are also planned.
