A MELKSHAM woman has performed alongside celebrities in a one-off charity drama and musical performance in Bath.
Jacs Brady performed with West End stars and well known soap actors as part of a reunion arranged by the Musical Youth Theatre Company in Bath who invited former members including Jacs, to perform a medley of their greatest shows to raise money for Dorothy House.
Also invited to perform were former members who have gone on to make on-screen and West End careers such as Andrew Lincoln who has starred in blockbuster films such as ‘Human Traffic’ and ‘Love Actually’, Sarah Lane who has appeared in the West End as Cossette in ‘Les Miserables’ and Jennifer Biddell who rose to fame playing Jessica Harris in ‘Hollyoaks’ between 2005-2008.
The Musical Youth Theatre Company, based in Bath, was founded in 1987 and ran for 15 years ending in 2002. In that time, many future stars honed their skills under the tutelage of Greg Vere who founded the youth theatre group. It was Greg who organised the reunion in memory of Keith Butterworth who played a vital role in the group when it was active.
Jacs Brady said, “It was fantastic to get the opportunity to perform and see so many old friends who I haven’t seen for many years. It must have been about 25 years since I was part of the youth theatre group and it was good fun and exciting to play to a full house who seemed to really appreciate the performance.
“Those that have gone on to make a career in the business were just like normal people really, we all come from the same background and it was great to get back on stage with them.”
The one-off performance included a selection of musical theatre shows such as ‘Gambling Man’, ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Les Miserables’ and many more.
