THREE local women are set to take part in a world record sky diving attempt.
Crystal Foster and Robyn Clark from Melksham, along with their friend Naomi Thorn from Calne, will join 700 people across the country in a sky dive that could see the world record broken.
The sky dive is taking place in Redlands, Swindon, on Saturday 14th September. There are several other sites involved up and down the UK. The jumps are organised by CLIC Sargent, the charity for children with cancer. They are hoping to break the Guinness World Record for the most tandem parachute jumps in 24 hours. To succeed, the charity has recruited over 700 skydivers to take to the skies over the one weekend across five venues in Devon, Kent, Swindon, Wiltshire and Northamptonshire.
Crystal Foster from Melksham said, “We still need to raise money to pay for the jump. We need to raise £350 per person by August 30th. We have paid £50 each to get involved, but this does not go towards the £350. We donate this all to CLIC but would like to raise as much as possible.
“I personally was interested because I like to challenge myself and to do something like this when I myself am petrified of heights will be a huge achievement. The bonus is that it will all be for a charity that I learnt about when we received the newsletter and it immediately tugged at my heart strings.
“Having seen newsletters about it at work, I mentioned it to Robyn and that it could be a world record attempt and that all funds raised will go towards CLIC cancer. Robyn was extremely interested and it went from there. So far we have raised funds through word of mouth and Natwest bank have allowed us to have collection boxes in local branches and we have organised a ‘raffle night’ at a local pub for staff.
“We approached ‘Little Joeys’ located at Boomerang and they have been fantastic and are holding a day dedicated to the fund CLIC to raise funds for our skydive. It will be called ‘rainbow day’ and each child can wear their favourite colour that day and donate to the fund.”

Donation buckets are also located at Boomerang and you can donate at most local Natwest branches.
