Melksham Town Council has responded to recent criticism about the wrong time being displayed on the Town Hall clock.
They say, “Some eagle-eyed residents may have noticed that the clock face on the Town Hall missed the jump forward to British Summer Time earlier this month. The clock’s tardiness arose due to a faulty GPS system, that links the antique frontage of its face to the exact time. We have ordered new parts and have dealt with the clock manually in the meantime.
“We can now confirm that the time has been adjusted to that of the rest of the UK, and, pending new parts being installed, it will soon be safe to set your watches to the iconic Melksham landmark once more.
“As much as we would like summer to last an extra week, we will ensure that the change back to Greenwich Mean Time won’t be delayed.”
