MELKSHAM will get a giant spring clean next month – and you are being invited to help!
Melksham Town Council and Melksham Bloomers are joining forces to hold Melksham’s Great British Spring Clean on Sunday 24th March from 1pm to 3pm.
This is part of the annual Keep Britain Tidy, Great British Spring Clean campaign that runs from Friday 15th March to Sunday 31st March.
This year all areas of Melksham will be involved, not only the town centre, and there will be a hub in each ward, where volunteers can gather before and after the event.
The hubs for each ward will be:
- South – Melksham Town Hall, Market Place
- Forest – Pig & Whistle, Woodrow Road
- North – McDonald’s, Beanacre Road
- East – Water Meadow, Verbena Court
Members of the public are invited to gather at the hub that is closest to them from 1pm. Litter pickers, bin bags and hi-vis wear will be provided.
Melksham town councillors from each ward will be at their area hubs, overseeing their team’s efforts.
Councillor Charlie Stokes who represents Melksham East Ward said, “The Great British Spring Clean is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community and help boost the tidiness of our town.
“We have a fantastic amenities team who keep our town looking great but it’s still important for us residents, regardless of age, to work together to just help give it that extra sparkle. If you have the time on Sunday 24th March, please do join us and feel free to bring along your children and grandchildren. This is their town too and it’s important we encourage them to care for our environment.”
