WILTSHIRE charity Alzheimer’s Support is looking for walkers to join its annual sponsored walks in Bowood and Warminster this Saturday.
The charity’s new Bowood Walk to Remember, taking place on Saturday 10th June at 9am, is a circular seven mile walk near Calne that will start at Bowood House car park, head around and out of the beautiful grounds into the countryside and then wind back through the estate to finish with medals and refreshments.
Alternatively, there is a slightly longer Walk to Remember happening on the same day in Warminster. The 8.5-mile walk starts in Warminster Park, again at 9am, and takes in some of Wiltshire’s loveliest countryside as it leads up and around historic Battlesbury Camp hill fort. There is also a family-friendly Meadow Mile around the town’s lake and nature reserve that is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Alzheimer’s Support CEO Sarah Marriott said, “We’re very grateful to everyone who has signed up for the Bowood Walk to Remember, but we need more walkers! We passionately believe in supporting people to live well with dementia through our services including Movement for the Mind in Bowerhill and Music for the Mind in Seend and Trowbridge.
“As a charity we would struggle to provide these services without the generosity of our fundraisers. As well as being a great day out for walkers of all ages and abilities, every penny raised from the Bowood Walk to Remember contributes towards our vital work. Please join us – you’ll be supporting people with dementia with each step!”
Entry for both walks is just £12 for adults, £5 for children aged 11 to 16. Children under 11 walk free.
To sign up for either walk, visit www.alzheimerswiltshire.org.uk or call 01985 624005. The website also contains information about the clubs and other support offered.
