MELKSHAM fundraiser, Robbie Newton, has raised over £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support with an online auction.
Over 130 items were up for grabs, and 950 bids were received. “I was amazed!” said Robbie talking to Melksham News. “I was in two minds if I should do one at all this year with everything that is going on, but it turned out to be the best one yet!
“I was so proud how it all went. It was a lot of hard work, but when you think of how the money is going to help people, personal thoughts don’t really come into it, you think of the bigger picture. All lots were sold too, which is amazing!”
The online auction was one of many charity fundraisers organised by Robbie this year for Macmillan Cancer Support, which have raised in total £12,250.
Events have included a back garden ‘RideLondon’ challenge, and a 26.2 mile back garden marathon – both with Robbie dressed in his infamous green morphman suit. But Robbie’s not done yet! With a Christmas hamper prize draw and a staff Christmas jumper day at his place of work, Travis Perkins, still to come, Robbie is hoping to raise even more for Macmillan before the year is done.
About his Christmas hamper prize draw, Robbie said, “There is a suggested donation of £2 per strip which goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.
“The draw will be made on Friday 18th December, I can then deliver locally to the winner (Melksham, Trowbridge, Devizes)
“Top prizes are not one, but two hampers with a few other prizes including the usual ‘Robbie Special prizes’! You can enter by going to https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RobbieNewton and selecting the raffle page.
Once donated, email me on robbie.newton@travisperkins.co.uk so I can advise you of your lucky numbers! Good luck!”
