Just over a hundred people turned out on a rather wet Saturday morning to enjoy Melksham’s 48th parkrun.
Organisers say, “Over 1700 people have now run, walked or jogged over 31,000 kilometres here, and Saturday 15th December marks our first birthday.
“As well as some special (free) treats in the cafe and visitors drawn by this milestone event, we’re very keen to make it easier than ever for anyone hesitating joining us to give it a try by just walking. By appealing like this to those who think parkrun sounds great, but don’t think they could keep up, we hope enough will give it a go to provide support for each other.
“One thing is certain; they can be assured of a warm welcome and plenty of support from runners and marshals. Just Google Melksham parkrun, register on the website, print off your barcode and simply turn up with it just before 9am Saturday morning. No need to check in or anything like that.
“Many health issues have been shown to benefit from taking part in parkrun, so have a word with your doctor before deciding it’s not for you. Many GP practices have now signed up to the parkrun practices initiative.”
